We are in our new home!
After a year and a half of raising money and fifteen months of renovation, we are now in our new home on 3185 N. 10th Street. And what a great facility it is! We want to especially thank the Dodge Jones Foundation, Dian Grave Foundation, Shelton Family Foundation and the Community Foundation of Abilene for providing more than half of what we needed for this project. To all our other donors -- local and area foundations and individuals, churches and clubs -- thank you for making this new home possible. To our architect, Jack Harkins, and his staff, along with our contractor, Don Faulkner and his great team of subcontractors, great job! God used all of you to provide us a much larger and more efficient space serve our low-income neighbors.
With this larger space we plan to expand our programs to do more than provide relief, but also development. For those who are able to work, we will provide our jobs list and inform them of organizations in town that can help them get into the work force. Our Hope Room will be a place where volunteers can tutor school children, provide ESL classes or guide those who need to understand how God has wired them for a vocation that fits their gifts. We'll also offer space for Abilene agencies to explain their services to those who desire and need "a hand up and not a hand out."
Please consider joining us as a volunteer. You can help us continue carrying out our mission to “share the love of Christ by providing basic needs and a fresh start!”
